Our Renton Public Librarians are amazing, but if you go to the library you already know that. Just the other day we talked about all of the programs that the librarians have added despite the fact they have not received any additional funds to do so. Well, they have done it again…

The Washington State Library has awarded a grant to the Renton Public Library of 10 laptops for a computer lab.  Our Renton librarians wrote the grant application, describing how the laptops will be used to provide computer training sessions for the public on using the Internet for job searching, doing on-line job applications, creating resumes with Word, and other related topics.  The 10 laptop computers are expected to arrive in March and will add to the inventory of 20 PC workstations which are already available at the library.  The new grant provides the opportunity for the Library to address a huge need in our community, helping people improve their computer and job search skills.

Our thanks to the Renton librarians who continue to find ways to improve our library, even without new budget funding support.  We ask that Renton voters keep this kind of extra effort in mind and vote to keep our wonderful librarians working in Renton and focused on the needs of our community.  Vote NO to annexation!
